The winter months always presnt additional concerns to parents and us when it comes to your son/daughter travelling to and from College. We feel we need to keep you informed that recently we have had two incidents in which a mobile phone was stolen from a student between Bacon's College and Canada Water station.
We have taken a number of steps regarding students' safety between the College and Canada Water at the end of the working day. The police robbery squad have a dedicated prescence in the area, our community police offocer spoke to students at Monday's assembly, advising them about street safety, and we will have an increased senior staff prescence in the neighbourhood, at the end of the day, not only to supervise and be visible doing so, but also to ensure that students are travelling on main roads, rather than back streets.
There are a number of common sense things a young person can do to actively prevent being at risk, including not making mobile phones visible, walking in groups and staying on the main route home. Pease be assured we are taking every step to ensure a third incident will not occur.
