Overall A ‘Level results show the following highlights

15 A* grades - 8.9% of total grades
81.6% A-C grades
97.6% A*-E grades
Numbers of students so far confirmed into University is 50 – 70% of total applications of whom 7 had success through clearing. Application to Russell Group Universities was successful in that 8 students have confirmed places at Universities including Imperial College London, University of Oxford, University of Cambridge (our medical student Eilis Kempley starting Cambridge this October will join 2 other Bacon’s students in Years 2 & 3 of their Computer Studies and Economics degrees).
Of the 3 students successful in obtaining places at the University of Sheffield Ibukun Gbenga-Ojo is a first for Bacon’s in being a female student studying Aerospace Engineering and Val Landeg Head Boy at Bacon’s 2010/11 will be a first in studying Social Anthropology at the University of Manchester.
Press interest in Bacon’s came to a head on the morning of 18
th
August results day when ITV News filmed students’ reactions to their results and their feelings about tuition fees. This was broadcast at lunchtime on London ITV News and again in longer format at 6pm.
