We are pleased to announce details for the successful series of meetings in the Walking with Adolescents programme of talks and discussion for parents and carer’s. These meetings are open to ALL parents of students at the college and our local community and are designed to support you as a parent of teenagers.
This year we have changed the format for this programme. We have invited Ariel Nathanson, who led a very successful meeting with us last year – to join us for 6 meetings. His role will be to address issues that you as parents have identified as being of concern for you and that you would like some time to think about with an experienced professional and with other parents.
The dates for the Walking with Adolescents Programme 2011 – 2012 are as follows:
Session 1: Thursday 13th October 2011 6.30 – 7.45
Session 2: Thursday 10th November 2011 6.30 – 7.45
Session 3: Thursday 8th December 2011 6.30 – 7.45
Session 4: Thursday 19th January 2012 6.30 – 7.45
Session 5: Thursday 23rd February 2012 6.30 – 7.45
Session 6: Thursday 22nd March 2012 6.30 – 7.45
Each meeting will be held in the college conference room.
The first meeting is titled: ‘Teenagers and Computer Technology: Threat or Challenge, Friend or Foe?’
During this meeting we will think about the impact of computer technology upon our teenage sons and daughters. We will explore how we as parents can think about and manage our feelings of uncertainty and anxiety about these technologies and how we can talk with our teenagers about them.
To help us plan for this and future events we would be grateful if parents/carers could complete our online survey if you are able to attend or not. The survey is confidential and will be used to help us deliver the content parents/carers are interested in. Please click on the link below or paste in to your browser:
