One of our key aims is to enable all students to feel as though they are an active and integrated part of our Sixth form as soon as possible. We share a number of activities between both Year 12 and Year 13 students at the start of each year in order to enable that process of integration and identification with our aims to take place as rapidly as possible.
We encourage students to adopt a dynamic and aspirational approach to learning, aware always of the significance of the spiritual dimension in their lives.
The Sixth Form Contract is of great significance as it defines our shared ethos and forms an agreement about the values and priorities of the Sixth form as well as our expectations of each student who is a member of our Sixth Form.
Although we recognise the growing autonomy of our Sixth Form students, we also realise from many years of experience that there is a direct link between attendance, punctuality and academic performance. For this reason, we require our procedures for registration to be respected on a daily basis.
We expect students to view themselves as young adults and to take increased responsibility for communicating effectively with the staff of our Sixth Form Office, their tutors and teaching staff.
We recognise that the voice of the Sixth Form is critical in enabling change and development and in voicing student opinion. For example, CLICK - the College Webzine (available via the homepage), is an online magazine, created, produced and updated by a group of Sixth Form Students. Our Sixth Form Council and Leadership Team are also instrumental in voicing opinion and enabling change and we value their views in shaping our Sixth Form life.
